National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) FHIR The FHIR resource Observation is used to communicate National Early Warning Score, NEWS2. It is a warning score that signals the severity of the condition of the patient.

The NEWS2 score is calculated based on the vital signs of the patient.

Vital signs FHIR The FHIR resource Observation is used to communicate vital sign values, using separate FHIR profiles.
Examples of available vital signs measurements are:
  • ACVPU
  • Air Passage
  • Body height, temperature, and weight
  • Blood pressure and heart rate
  • Oxygen saturation and respiratory rate
  • Pain NRS
